Three-axis pitch, roll and yaw under your whole cockpit — seat, stick and rudder pedals moving as one platform. The "r" smooth-gearbox build is tuned for the slow, deliberate inputs of flight and helicopter sims, so every banked turn and hover correction reaches you as real motion.

The DOF Reality H3r is the Hero-series, three-axis full-platform motion rig built specifically for pilots. It moves on pitch, roll and yaw — the three axes that define how an aircraft actually feels in your hands — and it moves the entire cockpit, not just the seat. Your yoke or stick, throttle quadrant and rudder pedals all travel together, so what you see on screen and what your body feels stay locked in agreement.

What sets the "r" variant apart is the extra-smooth SFU gearbox. Flight and helicopter sims live in slow, precise territory: a gentle bank into a turn, a creeping pitch change on final approach, the constant micro-corrections of a hover. The SFU drive is tuned to deliver those small, deliberate movements without notch or stair-step, so the platform breathes with the aircraft instead of jerking after it.

At $3,299, the H3r gives you commercial-grade steel, real cockpit-wide motion and a gearbox built for the way pilots actually fly — a serious, lasting upgrade over a static chair without stepping up to a six-axis price.

How it moves

This is a full-platform rig: the seat and all your controls move together, so your hands and feet stay locked to the cockpit exactly as they would in the real thing.

  • Pitch — tilts you forward and back so you feel acceleration and braking.
  • Roll — tilts side to side so you feel the lean of every corner.
  • Yaw — rotates the platform to reproduce rear traction loss — oversteer, drift and coordinated turns.

Who it’s for

The H3r is for the flight and helicopter simmer who wants full-cockpit motion on the three axes that matter most for flying — pitch, roll and yaw — with the smooth-gearbox tuning that rewards precise, low-speed inputs. If you fly study-level aircraft in MSFS 2024, DCS World or X-Plane and you want the airframe's attitude felt rather than just seen, this is the sweet spot.

  • Step down: If you mostly want roll-and-pitch immersion and a lower entry point, the two-axis H2 ($2,499) delivers the same Hero smoothness on the two most-felt axes.
  • Step up: Add a heave actuator with the H4 (from $1,675) for vertical cues like turbulence and hard landings, or move to the full six-axis H6 (from $3,750) when you want surge, sway and heave alongside pitch, roll and yaw.

Games, platforms & compatibility

The H3r reads real flight telemetry from 27+ supported titles, translating each aircraft's pitch, roll and yaw straight into platform motion. Flight and helicopter favorites include:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 & 2020, DCS World, X-Plane 10/11/12, Prepar3D 4.5/5 and Aerofly FS 2
  • IL-2 Sturmovik, War Thunder (planes) and Star Wars Squadrons for combat flying
  • Elite Dangerous for space flight and Condor 2 for soaring gliders

PC (Windows) is fully supported across every title above. Console (PlayStation/Xbox) works for the select games that send telemetry over the network, and the MagicBox adapter bridges motion for others. VR is supported through OpenVR Motion Compensation, so your headset stays steady while the platform moves — tested with Valve Index, Quest and Quest 2, Reverb G2, Vive, Pimax and more.

For full controls, mount and platform details, see our DOF support page.

Future-proof: upgrade later

Add heave (H4 from $1,675) or jump to the full six-axis H6 (from $3,750) whenever you are ready. Every DOF Reality platform is modular — see how the upgrade paths work on our Options & Upgrades page.

Shipping & delivery

Your rig ships factory-direct, built to order, with a typical 3–4 week build-and-delivery window via FedEx or DHL Express — door-to-door, fully insured and tracked. It arrives disassembled in two boxes (commercial-grade steel, so it is heavy by design = rigid and durable) and bolts together with the included tools; then you install SimRacingStudio and connect by USB. Any import duties, taxes, or customs charges set by your country are the customer’s responsibility and are not included in the product or shipping price — in line with the manufacturer’s policy. Full details on our Shipping & Delivery page.

Warranty, support & financing

Every platform includes a full 1-year manufacturer warranty, with an optional Extended +1 Year. As an authorized DOF Reality dealer based in the USA, we back every order with free pre-sale consultation and hands-on setup help — and you can split the cost with Shop Pay, Affirm, or Klarna at checkout. Frequently asked questions

Why choose the H3r "r" variant for flight instead of the standard H3?

The "r" build uses the extra-smooth SFU gearbox, tuned specifically for the slow, precise movements flight and helicopter sims demand. Where fast-twitch racing motion can mask small steps, flying exposes them — gentle banks, gradual pitch changes and hover corrections need to arrive smoothly. The SFU drive delivers exactly that, which is why we recommend it for pilots.

Which three axes does the H3r move, and why those for flying?

Pitch, roll and yaw. These are the three rotations that define an aircraft's attitude: nose up and down, wings banking left and right, and the nose swinging through a turn or a crosswind. Feeling all three together is what makes coordinated turns, stalls and approaches read as real motion rather than just a moving picture.

Does the H3r move the whole cockpit or just the seat?

The whole platform. Your seat, yoke or stick, throttle and rudder pedals all move as one unit, so your hands and feet stay aligned with the motion. That matters in flight sims, where you're making constant fine inputs and need the controls to travel with you.

Can I add heave or more axes later?

Yes. You can add a heave actuator with the H4 (from $1,675) for vertical cues like turbulence and firm touchdowns, or move up to the full six-axis H6 (from $3,750) when you're ready for surge, sway and heave on top of pitch, roll and yaw.

Will the H3r work with my VR headset for flying?

Yes. The H3r supports VR through OpenVR Motion Compensation, which keeps your in-headset view stable while the platform moves beneath you — essential for VR flight. It's compatible with Valve Index, Quest and Quest 2, Reverb G2, Vive, Pimax and more.
