What a Motion Sim Rig Really Costs (October 2026 Prices)
The short answer
- A starter static setup, the TR40S cockpit plus a MOZA R3 PC bundle, comes to about $628 (October 2026).
- Seat movers start from about $2,018 (October 2026) for the DOF M2, on a cockpit you already own.
- Full motion platforms run from about $3,235 for the H2 to about $11,753 for the P6e (October 2026), before seat, wheel and pedals.
- A 3 axis DOF H3 build with a seat, wheel and pedals comes to about $4,991.
- Budget for a Windows PC and a screen or VR headset on top. We do not sell a PC or a VR headset on its own.
The price ladder at a glance
Every price below comes from our live store in October 2026, rounded to the dollar. Prices change, so check the product page before you buy.
| Tier | Example | What moves | Price (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Static cockpit | Trak Racer TR40S | Nothing | from about $349 |
| Static, complete bundle | TR8 PRO with wheel, wheelbase and pedals | Nothing | from about $3,424 |
| Seat mover | DOF M2 | Seat only | from about $2,018 |
| Seat mover | NLR Motion Platform V3 | Seat only | from about $3,377 |
| 2 axis platform | DOF H2 | Seat, wheel, pedals | from about $3,235 |
| 3 axis platform | DOF H3 | Seat, wheel, pedals | from about $3,985 |
| 3 axis, bolts under a rig | SimRig SR2 3DOF | The whole rig | from about $4,889 |
| 4 axis platform (heave) | DOF H4 | Seat, wheel, pedals | from about $5,202 |
| 6 axis platform | DOF H6 | Seat, wheel, pedals | from about $8,603 |
| 6 axis, commercial grade | DOF P6e | Seat, wheel, pedals | from about $11,753 |
Motion prices cover the motion hardware. DOF platforms include their steel frame. Seat movers and the SimRig need a cockpit or rig you supply.
Static rigs: the low end
A static cockpit does not move. It holds your seat, wheel and pedals rigid. The NLR GTLite is from about $229 (October 2026). The Trak Racer TR8 PRO V2 is from about $699 (October 2026).
A low cost starter pairs the TR40S with the MOZA R3 PC bundle, from about $279 (October 2026). That bundle has a wheel, a direct drive base and pedals, and the pair totals about $628. The TR40S page does not list a seat, so ask SDP Support if you need one. The TR8 PRO bundle in the table is one order instead of several. It adds a fiberglass seat, a 3 pedal set, a 25 Nm direct drive wheelbase and a GT wheel.
Turnkey rigs start with the Spec 1: TR8 Pro, from about $10,564 (October 2026). It arrives built, needs no assembly and includes a gaming PC. See more in cockpits and rigs and complete setups.
Shakers are not motion: A Trak Racer amplifier with two bass shakers is a low cost, complete kit for feeling the road. It costs from about $199 (October 2026). It adds vibration through the pedals, shifter or frame. It does not tilt you.
Motion: seat movers, platforms, Hero and Pro
A seat mover tilts your seat while the wheel and pedals stay fixed. The M2 mounts on a cockpit you already own. The NLR V3 fits inside an NLR cockpit. The M2 is the lowest cost way into motion on our store, but our motion guide notes seat only cues "can feel slightly disconnected."
Without a compatible frame, DOF says a new frame plus an M2 costs almost the same as an H2. The H2 moves your wheel and pedals too.
A full platform moves seat, wheel and pedals together. Each axis adds a cue. Yaw adds traction loss, heave adds curbs and bumps, and surge and sway slide you forward, back and sideways.
DOF's Pro line costs more for commercial grade parts. The P3e is from about $7,135 (October 2026), about $3,150 more than the H3. Pro rigs are about 50% faster and rated to 440 lb. They are built for arcades, training centers and daily heavy use. For home sessions of 3 to 4 hours, DOF says the consumer versions "perform exceptionally well."
If your total budget is under about $2,000, motion is out of reach on our store. A static rig with a good wheel and pedals is the stronger choice at that budget. For the buying steps on DOF, see buying DOF Reality in the US.
What else you need to budget for
- Seat. The DOF seat is from about $454 and the Sparco R100 from about $528 (October 2026). You can reuse a seat you own if it fits standard mounting.
- Wheel and pedals. MOZA bundles for DOF rigs run from about $552 for the R5 to about $977 for the R9 GS (October 2026).
- Safety. A four point harness is from about $104 and an eBrake stop button from about $58 (October 2026). We strongly recommend the harness on any rig with 3 or more axes.
- Screen. A Trak Racer 34 inch ultrawide monitor is from about $399, and triple monitor stands from about $359 (October 2026). On a DOF platform, keep triples on a static stand off the rig.
- Console without a PC. The DOF MagicBox is from about $209 (October 2026). It handles motion only.
- PC or VR headset. We do not sell these on their own, so price them separately.
Freight is already in the price: Every DOF platform price includes freight to the US and Canada. Depending on your country, the carrier may bill import processing fees at delivery. Ask SDP Support for a landed cost estimate before you order.
Example builds with real totals

| Seat mover | DOF M2 on your cockpit (seat, wheel and pedals extra) | about $2,018 |
| Entry full platform | H2 + DOF seat + MOZA R5 bundle | about $4,241 |
| NLR seat mover | V3 + F-GT Elite 160 (seat, wheel and pedals extra) | about $4,615 |
| Best value | H3 + DOF seat + MOZA R5 bundle | about $4,991 |
| Heave | H4 + DOF seat + MOZA R9 CS bundle + harness | about $6,712 |
| Six axes | H6 + Sparco R100 + MOZA R9 GS bundle + harness + eBrake | about $10,270 |
| Turnkey static with PC | Spec 1: TR8 Pro | about $10,564 |
Swap the R5 bundle for the R9 CS bundle and the H3 build comes to about $5,391. Add a harness for about $104 more.
Buy now or upgrade later?
DOF upgrade kits add axes to a rig you own. Buying an H4 now costs about $1,217 more than an H3. Adding the H3 to H4 upgrade kit later, from about $2,509 (October 2026), costs about $1,292 more in total than the H4 alone. If you know you want heave, buy it now. If you are unsure, the H3 lets you spread the cost. Our H3 vs H4 guide covers the choice.
