The DOF Reality P4e is a 4-axis Pro motion platform built for pilots who fly rotary-wing and want the full helicopter envelope under them. It drives pitch, roll, yaw and heave on a full-platform design, which means your seat, pedals, collective and cyclic all move together as one rigid unit — not just the chair. Your inputs and the world line up exactly, the way they do in a real airframe.

Heave is what makes this rig sing for helicopter work. That dedicated up-and-down axis lets you actually feel the aircraft sink into translational lift, balloon on a power surge, or drop when you bleed off collective in an autorotation. Pair it with yaw for pedal-turn and tail-rotor authority cues, plus pitch and roll for cyclic loading, and a hover stops being a numbers game on the instruments — you feel the aircraft floating and correct before your eyes catch the drift.

As a Pro-series platform, the P4e runs roughly 50% faster and stronger than the smooth Hero rigs, on commercial-grade steel rated for continuous duty. At $7,999 it's the four-axis sweet spot for a serious home or training cockpit, and it's something we'd happily fly ourselves.

How it moves

This is a full-platform rig: the seat and all your controls move together, so your hands and feet stay locked to the cockpit exactly as they would in the real thing.

• Pitch — tilts you forward and back so you feel acceleration and braking.
• Roll — tilts side to side so you feel the lean of every corner.
• Yaw — rotates the platform to reproduce rear traction loss — oversteer, drift and coordinated turns.
• Heave — drives the whole platform vertically for curbs, kerbs, bumps and (in the air) runway texture and turbulence.

The P4e is built to fly the helicopter titles serious pilots actually run: DCS World rotary-wing modules (Apache, Black Shark, Huey, Gazelle and more), Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020, and X-Plane 10, 11 and 12 helicopters.

• PC (Windows): Fully supported across every title above — the ideal home for helicopter sim and the deepest telemetry.
• Console (PlayStation / Xbox): Works with the select games that send telemetry over the network, and the MagicBox adapter bridges motion for others.
• VR: Supported via OpenVR Motion Compensation, so the cockpit moves while your view stays locked — Valve Index, Quest and Quest 2, Reverb G2, Vive, Pimax and more.

Shipping & delivery

Your rig is built to order and ships insured from our European manufacturing partner, door to door with tracking. The current lead time is in the Shipping and Returns tab. It arrives disassembled in two boxes (commercial-grade steel, so it is heavy by design = rigid and durable) and bolts together with the included tools; then you install SimRacingStudio and connect by USB. Any import duties, taxes, or customs charges set by your country are the customer’s responsibility and are not included in the product or shipping price — in line with the manufacturer’s policy. Frequently asked questions

Why does heave matter so much for helicopter flying?

Heave is the dedicated vertical axis — the platform physically moving up and down. In a helicopter, that's the cue you live by: the sink into translational lift, the balloon on a power increase, the descent as you bleed off collective. On the 4-axis P4e, heave turns hover and autorotation work from an instrument-reading exercise into something you feel and correct by seat-of-the-pants, which is exactly how real pilots fly.

How is the P4e different from a Hero-series rig like the H4?

Both are full-platform designs, but the P4e is Pro-series: built on commercial-grade steel and running roughly 50% faster and stronger than the smooth Hero motors. For aggressive rotary-wing maneuvering and sharp, repeatable cues, the extra speed and rigidity of the Pro platform make the difference.

Do all four axes move my flight controls with me?
